The Link Between Motion and Emotion

Kevin has been running bespoke exercise sessions in central London and internationally since 2019. He works closely with other professionals across London, including the Dr. Giaroli Centre on Harley Street and Occupational Therapists from Maximum Potential. The tailor-made exercise programmes, emphasising the benefits of exercise, are supposed to guide children and teenagers with additional needs (age 5 to 20+) towards taking part in sports in which they can succeed and have fun without being exposed to the risk of becoming excluded or suffering from sensory overloads. The programme runs under the name "London's Exceptional Warriors".

Most parents know of the health benefits of exercise. It promotes healthy weight, improves cardiovascular function and reduces stress. However, the mental health and behavioural benefits of exercise are equally important but less familiar.

Exercise increases the release of several brain chemicals like endorphins and dopamine, which affect our brain’s functioning. Exercise supports the whole body, including the brain, in functioning at its highest potential. Several studies have looked at the effects of exercise in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. They show clear evidence that exercise improves attention, concentration, organizational skills and emotional regulation.
